Purpose
SoCal Science Writing is a regional group of science writers, broadcasters, editors, and PIOs based in Southern California and run by a volunteer group of independent journalists.
Our goal is to foster connections between local science communicators, improve the professional lives of our group members, and ultimately enhance the public understanding of science.
How to get involved: Join our mailing list or Facebook group. Become a member. Email us to ask a question, share an opportunity, co-host an event, or volunteer.
What we've done
SoCal Science Writing kicked off with a symposium at UCLA in 2018, followed by a second symposium at USC in 2019. Other past events include holiday parties, narrative master classes with writers of large features, pitch clinics, and book talks.
